Les Vampires it is a frontispiece from a text published in Paris, 1820. Demonologist during the nineteenth century, Jacques Auguste Simon Collin de Plancy was best known for his Dictionnaire Infernal, 1818.
Titled at the bottom and signed by Berthe, the image shows in the foreground a female figure with a long corseted dress, apparently asleep lying on the roots of a tree, almost molten with the earth and a tombstone with the inscription "Rosalie Morle […]" displays the female as part of the bodies around, resembling a representation of the Dream, because her body has not yet been fully resurrected…
